Popular Creepers We Stock

Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum) – Evergreen, highly fragrant; ideal for fences and pots with a trellis.
Bougainvillea – Dazzling colour in hot, sunny spots; train on wires; light winter pruning.
Wisteria – Spectacular spring racemes; needs sturdy support and winter pruning.
Honeysuckle (Lonicera) – Perfumed, wildlife-friendly; great for arches and entryways.
Cape Honeysuckle (Tecomaria) – SA favourite; can be trained as a climber for long flowering.
Granadilla / Passionfruit (Passiflora) – Edible fruit and exotic flowers; loves full sun.
Creeping Fig (Ficus pumila) – Excellent wall cover; self-clinging on rough surfaces.
Black-eyed Susan (Thunbergia) – Quick seasonal cover with cheerful blooms.
Climbing Roses – Romantic canes for pergolas and pillars; prune and tie in new growth.

Sun vs Shade – Choose the Right Spot
Full sun (6–8+ hrs): Bougainvillea, Wisteria, Passionfruit, Climbing Roses, Thunbergia.
Sun to part shade: Star Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Cape Honeysuckle.
Shade / bright indirect: Creeping Fig (avoid deep, dry shade).

Planting, Training & Care
Support: Install galvanised wires (spaced 30–45 cm apart) or a trellis before planting. Use soft ties to train new shoots.
Soil: Well-drained, enriched with compost; mulch after planting.
Watering: Keep evenly moist for the first 6–8 weeks; then water deeply but less often.
Feeding: Balanced fertiliser in spring; avoid heavy nitrogen on bougainvillea.
Pruning: Trim after flowering to control size; Wisteria—winter prune; Roses—late winter shape and deadhead in season.

Design Ideas

Privacy screen: Train bougainvillea or star jasmine along tensioned wires.
Perfumed entrance: Arch of honeysuckle or star jasmine near the front door.
Edible pergola: Passionfruit overhead for fruit and summer shade.
Wall tapestry: Creeping fig to soften brick or concrete.
