Growing Info

🕰️ Planting Time:
Spring (August to October), once frost risk has passed and the soil begins to warm.

📍 Position:
Choose a sunny to lightly sheltered area. Performs best in full sun but tolerates some afternoon shade in hotter regions.

🌱 Soil:
Well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost. Avoid heavy or soggy soils.

💧 Watering:
Water thoroughly after planting. Maintain evenly moist soil—deep watering once or twice a week is better than frequent light watering.

🍽️ Feeding:
Use a potassium-rich liquid or granular fertiliser (like 3:1:5) every few weeks during flowering season to encourage strong, vibrant blooms.

✂️ Maintenance:
Deadhead regularly to keep blooms coming. Stake taller plants to protect from wind. Cut back in late autumn or lift tubers if winter frost is expected.

🛏️ Overwintering:
In frost-prone areas, lift and store tubers in a dry, cool space. In frost-free areas, you can leave them in the ground with a mulch layer for insulation.
