Growing Tips

Choose a sunny, wind-protected spot—dahlias love a minimum of 6 hours of sun daily.

🌾 Soil Needs:
Plant in well-draining, compost-rich soil. Avoid heavy clay or overly wet spots—dahlias dislike “wet feet.”

💧 Watering:
Water deeply after planting, then maintain consistent moisture (2–3 times per week in dry spells). Avoid overhead watering to prevent mildew.

🍽️ Feeding:
Feed fortnightly with a high-potassium fertiliser (like 3:1:5 or 5:10:10) once the plant is actively growing and budding.

✂️ Maintenance:
Deadhead often to encourage fresh blooms. Pinch out early growth for bushier plants and stake if needed to support heavy flower heads.

🛏️ Winter Care:
In frost-prone areas, lift tubers after the first frost, dry them off, and store in a cool, dry space. In milder areas, leave in the ground with mulch for insulation.
