Citrus sinensis ‘Delta Valencia’ | Sweet, juicy oranges with excellent keeping quality

The Delta Valencia Orange is a premium late-season citrus variety renowned for its exceptional sweetness, high juice content and reliable productivity. Producing medium to large, vibrant orange fruit with a smooth rind, it is highly valued for both fresh eating and juicing. The fruit holds well on the tree, extending the harvest season and allowing for a prolonged supply of delicious home-grown oranges. With its attractive evergreen foliage and abundant crops, the Delta Valencia is an excellent choice for home gardens and orchards.

Plant Care

Sun: Full sun is essential — provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal flowering, fruit set and ripening.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid poorly drained or waterlogged conditions.

Water: Moderate — water deeply and consistently, especially during flowering, fruit development and hot weather. Allow the upper layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Fertiliser: Feed with a quality citrus fertiliser from spring through late summer. Regular feeding encourages healthy growth, strong fruit production and excellent fruit quality.

Pruning: Requires only light pruning. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches and shape lightly after harvest if necessary.

Top tip: Apply a thick layer of organic mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture, improve soil health and reduce weed competition.
