Plant Care

Sun: Full sun is essential — provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for healthy growth and maximum fruit production.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid poorly drained areas where roots may remain waterlogged.

Water: Moderate — water deeply and regularly, especially during hot, dry periods. Allow the upper layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Fertiliser: Feed with a quality citrus fertiliser in early spring, midsummer and early autumn. Ensure adequate micronutrients are available for healthy foliage and fruit development.

Pruning: Light pruning after harvest helps maintain shape and improve airflow. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches and any suckers arising from below the graft.

Top tip: Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the trunk.
