Citrus clementina ‘Marisol’ | Sweet, easy-peeling naartjies with exceptional flavour
The Marisol Clementine is a highly regarded naartjie variety prized for its early ripening, sweet flavour and easy-to-peel fruit. Producing bright orange, seedless to low-seeded fruit under most conditions, it is a favourite for fresh eating straight from the tree. Compact, productive and attractive, this citrus combines ornamental beauty with delicious harvests, making it ideal for home gardens and smaller growing spaces.
Plant Care
Sun: Full sun is essential — provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal flowering and fruit production.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Avoid poorly drained soils that may lead to root problems.
Water: Moderate — water deeply and regularly, particularly during flowering and fruit development. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Fertiliser: Apply a quality citrus fertiliser from spring through late summer to support healthy growth and abundant fruiting. Supplement with micronutrients if foliage shows signs of deficiency.
Pruning: Minimal pruning is required. Remove dead, damaged or overcrowded branches and lightly shape the canopy after harvest if necessary.
Top tip: Mulch generously around the root zone to help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature and encourage healthy root development.
