Winter Bulb Delivery in South Africa (Shipping Times & Dispatch Dates)

Ordering bulbs online is easy — but timing matters. This guide explains how winter bulb delivery works in South Africa, what “pre-order” really means, and what to do the moment your bulbs arrive.

How long does delivery take?

Once your order is dispatched, delivery is typically 2–3 working days depending on your area and courier routes. You’ll receive a tracking link when your order leaves the farm.

When do winter bulbs ship?

Winter bulbs are dispatched in line with the prime planting window (and chilling requirements where applicable). That ensures bulbs arrive when they’re most likely to perform well in your region.

What to do when your bulbs arrive

  1. Open the box immediately (don’t leave it in a hot car or sun).
  2. Check airflow — bulbs should be kept cool, dry and ventilated.
  3. Plant promptly if you’re in the correct planting window.
  4. If you need to wait: store in a cool, dry, dark place (paper bag/carton, not sealed plastic).

Pre-chilled vs non-chilled (tulips & hyacinths)

Some bulbs perform best with a cold period. If you’re growing tulips or hyacinths, check whether your bulbs are supplied pre-chilled/cold-treated, or whether you should chill them before planting.

FAQ

Do you deliver nationwide? Yes — winter bulbs are couriered across South Africa. Shipping options and costs show at checkout.

Can I combine bulbs with other items? Yes — but keep in mind the “ship window” is aligned to bulbs. If you need something urgently, consider placing a separate order.
